INCiTiS-FOOD is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Global Food Garden, an initiative dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture and knowledge exchange. This partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to strengthen knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, and resource dissemination between the two organisations, reinforcing their shared vision of sustainable and inclusive food systems.
Global Food Garden’s Mission and Impact
Global Food Garden (GFG) focuses on building sustainable communities in countries with high needs for employment and food security. GFG works with local and global partners in sustainable farming, vocational training, and entrepreneurship, promoting water-efficient vegetable cultivation methods and combining this with entrepreneurial activities and post-harvest processes. A big focus is on training and enabling local communities.
A key part of GFG’s efforts is the Smart Sustainable Farming online course, designed for local leaders, farmers, and entrepreneurs who want to strengthen their agricultural activities. The course provides practical knowledge on water-saving cultivation techniques, organic gardening principles, and business development strategies. Running from March to September 2025, this worldwide online training covers topics such as wicking beds, food processing, vision and growth, and network building. Participants also receive guidance from experienced mentors, ensuring they can apply their knowledge effectively and find solutions to challenges they encounter.
This training is particularly suited for:
- Entrepreneurs who have built sustainable businesses using their own initiative and resources.
- Leaders focused on vocational training for youth, especially from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Individuals with local ties and some experience in vegetable farming.
By offering this programme, Global Food Garden helps equip future agricultural leaders with the skills needed to create resilient and sustainable food systems.
