At INCiTiS-FOOD, as we embark on our second year, we are excited to share the array of engaging events, showcase activities, initiatives, media presence, and our five-day General Assembly in Nigeria! Stay tuned to learn about our accomplishments from the start of 2024 until the present.
General Assembly
The General Assembly of INCiTiS-FOOD, held from February 5–9, 2024, at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, was a highly successful gathering where stakeholders, professionals, and partners came together to plan future steps and reflect on past achievements for the advancement of food security in Africa. Throughout the five-day event, discussions centred on sharing best practices to enhance solutions, ranging from structural considerations to measurement techniques and microbial safety, as demonstrated in the hands-on hydroponics workshop.
Additionally, partners addressed crucial topics such as upcoming Open Calls, policy framework development, and strategies for inclusivity. Notable moments from the assembly included interactions with influential figures who stressed the importance of collaboration and innovation in agriculture, including the governor of Oyo State, the vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan, and the Royal King of Ibadan, Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Sen. Lekan Balogun.

At the BUST Campus, the official opening of the Living Lab was marked, and innovative circular technologies were introduced, specifically aquaponics and hydroponics, developed at the BUST Living Laboratory to the local community. Additionally, the event provided an opportunity for the Living Lab to directly interact with interested participants and explain the onboarding process.
