Our project, City Waste for Increased City Food and Wealth (CIWACIWE), addresses the challenge of urban food insecurity, waste management, and limited access to affordable agricultural inputs in Nigeria. Through a waste-to-wealth approach, we are upscaling hydroponic and bioponic farming systems while converting aquaculture and agro-wastes into organic liquid fertilizers. The project empowers over 100 youth and women across Northern, Central, and Southern Nigeria with training, technical support, and business development opportunities, thereby fostering food security, employment creation, and sustainable urban farming models.
