Aquaponics was chosen as a good circular food solution in Africa for several reasons. Firstly, aquaponics combines aquaculture (fish farming) with hydroponics (soilless plant cultivation), creating a sustainable and integrated system. This approach allows for efficient water and nutrient usage while minimizing waste. Secondly, aquaponics can be implemented in various settings, including urban areas with limited space, making it suitable for diverse communities in Africa. Lastly, aquaponics offers opportunities for local food production, promoting food security and reducing the need for long-distance transportation.
